چکیده
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) virus is an enveloped positive-stranded RNA virus belonging to the order Nidovirales, family Arteriviridae, and genus Arterivirus.1 PRRS virus (PRRSV) is divided into type 1 (European) and type 2 (North American) genotypes on the basis of the 3ʹ-terminal structural genes or the entire genome.2,3 PRRS is one of the most devastating diseases of swine, causing enormous economic losses for the global pork industry due to reproductive failure in sows and respiratory disease in growing pigs.4 Vaccination is still a major tool for control of PRRSV infection. Currently, two commercial PRRS modifiedlive vaccines (MLVs) are available in Korea: Fostera PRRS (Zoetis, Florham, New Jersey) and Ingelvac PRRS MLV (Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc, St Joseph, Missouri). Hence, the objective of this study was to compare the efficacy of the two MLV PRRS vaccines, under field conditions, in healthy pigs from a herd infected with type 2 PRRSV.

Effect of vaccination with a modified live porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus vaccine on growth performance in fattening pigs under field conditions
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) has caused significant economic losses to the global swine industry. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a commercial PRRSV modified live virus (MLV) vaccine in conventionally reared growing/finishing pigs. Four barns were designated for groups A, B, C and D in the growing-to-finishing site. All pigs of the A barn were ...

Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) since its appearance in Europe in the early 1990’s has resulted in tremendous economic losses. Under field conditions vaccination is one of the most efficient strategies for the prevention and control of PRRS. The aim of this study is to perform the PRRSV vaccinology regarding current status of commercial vaccines in Europe. There are two typ...

Introduction Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) costs the US pork industry $1.8 million per day.1 Swine practitioners have been successful eliminating PRRS virus (PRRSv) from breeding herds by implementing herd closure-homogenization protocols.2 Implementation of these protocols has resulted in a source of PRRSv PCR-negative weaned pigs to be placed in growing facilities. A la...
متن کاملComparison of four commercial one-dose porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) vaccines administered to pigs challenged with PCV2 and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus at 17 weeks postvaccination to control porcine respiratory disease complex under Korean field conditions.
Under Korean field conditions, coinfection with porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is most commonly observed in porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC). Despite the wide use of PCV2 vaccination, PRDC remains a serious respiratory problem. Thus, the objective of this study was to determine and compare the efficacy of 4 one-dose PCV...

The objective of this study was to compare the safety of all modified live virus vaccines commercially available in Europe against Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) under the same experimental conditions. For this purpose, one hundred and twenty three-week-old piglets, divided into five groups, were used. On day 0 of the experiment, nine pigs per group were removed and...
